The Chief Executive of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet is in charge of doing certain jobs related to intelligence and assessments. You need to know that these jobs include giving important information to Ministers, departments, and other people about events that affect New Zealand's national security and well-being. The Chief Executive also advises Ministers on what intelligence to collect and analyse, and tells departments how to assess intelligence properly.

The Chief Executive does not do these jobs themselves, but instead chooses an employee to do them. You can find more information about what the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet is in section 234. The Chief Executive can change their mind at any time and choose a different employee to do these jobs.

The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet is referred to as DPMC in this section and in section 234, which means the Chief Executive is in charge of certain jobs related to intelligence and assessments for this department.
