Health Act 1956

Miscellaneous provisions

137A: Incorporation of material by reference into regulations and compliance documents

You could also call this:

"Rules can include information from other sources to help explain what to do"

When rules are made under the Health Act 1956, they can include other material by reference. You can think of this material as information from other sources that is too big to be included in the rules themselves. This can be things like standards or recommended practices from national or international organisations.

The material can be included in whole or in part, and can even be modified to fit the rules. When this material is included, it is considered to be part of the rules from the time they are made. It has the same legal effect as the rest of the rules, and you must follow it as you would any other part of the rules, except for rules made under Part 4A.

The material that is incorporated by reference is the version that exists at the time the rules are made, and it is legally binding.
