Health Act 1956

Administration - Ministry of Health

3D: Director of Public Health may provide advice or reports to Minister

You could also call this:

"Public Health boss can advise the Minister on keeping New Zealanders healthy"

The Director of Public Health can give advice or write reports to the Minister about public health. You can think of the Director of Public Health as a person who helps keep people in New Zealand healthy. The Director can do this on their own or because the Minister asked them to, but first, they need to talk to the Director-General. The Director of Public Health can advise the Minister about anything to do with public health, or they can write a report about it. When the Director of Public Health is giving advice or writing reports, they work independently and do not have to answer to the Director-General, but they are still responsible for managing their work efficiently.
