You need to know about the rules for local authorities and fluoride in drinking water. The local authority must keep adding fluoride to the water unless the Director-General says not to. You can read more about this in section 2A. If a local authority does not add fluoride to the water, it can start doing so if it wants to. This is allowed if the local authority has never been told to add or not add fluoride before. The local authority can make its own decision about this. If a local authority breaks the rules about adding fluoride, it can get in trouble. You can read more about the penalties in section 116I and Subpart 2 of Part 5A applies to this offence, as if it were an offence against section 116J.
