Health Act 1956

Administration - Ministry of Health

3E: Public Health Agency

You could also call this:

"The Public Health Agency helps keep people healthy by leading and advising on health matters."

The Ministry of Health has a division called the Public Health Agency. You will find employees of the Ministry working in the Public Health Agency, and the Director-General decides who they are. The Public Health Agency has two main jobs: to lead the public health sector and to advise the Director-General on public health matters, including personal health and regulatory issues. The Public Health Agency's work does not limit what other laws or rules say, or what the Ministry or other people and groups can do. The Public Health Agency is part of the Ministry of Health, and it was set up to help keep people healthy.
