Public Works Act 1981

Grants of land, etc, in lieu of compensation

108: Execution of certificates

You could also call this:

“How the government signs papers when giving you land instead of money”

When the government needs to give you land instead of money as compensation, they need to sign a special document called a certificate. The law says that certain important people can sign these certificates on behalf of government ministers. The person in charge of the department that deals with land surveys can sign for the Minister. For railway land, the person who runs the railways can sign for the Minister of Railways. This makes it easier and quicker to give you the land you’re supposed to get.
