Public Works Act 1981

Dealing with land held for public works

48: Easement may be granted over land held for public work

You could also call this:

“Land used for public projects can be shared with others under special rules”

You can be given the right to use land that is held for a public work. This right is called an easement. The government or the local council that controls the public work can give you this easement. They can decide how you can use it and how much you need to pay. Usually, they can take away this right with three months’ notice, and you won’t get any money for it. But if you make a special agreement with them, this might be different.
