When you read this part of the law, some words have special meanings. A critical infrastructure project is a project listed in Schedule 2A. You can find what a Crown body is in section 11(2) of the Infrastructure Funding and Financing Act 2020.

A department can be an agency listed in Part 1 of Schedule 2 of the Public Service Act 2020, the New Zealand Defence Force, or the New Zealand Police. Government work includes an undertaking described in section 224(1) if the Minister is responsible for acquiring the land for the undertaking.

Local work includes an undertaking described in section 224(1) if a local authority is responsible for acquiring the land for the undertaking. The Minister means the Minister for Land Information. A responsible department or Crown body is the department or Crown body responsible for the construction and execution of a Government work that is a critical infrastructure project.

39AABInterpretation

  1. In this Part, unless the context otherwise requires,—

    critical infrastructure project means a project listed in Schedule 2A

      Crown body has the meaning given in section 11(2) of the Infrastructure Funding and Financing Act 2020

        department means—

        1. an agency listed in Part 1 of Schedule 2 of the Public Service Act 2020:
          1. the New Zealand Defence Force:
            1. the New Zealand Police

              Government work includes an undertaking described in section 224(1) if the Minister is responsible for acquiring the land for the undertaking

                local work includes an undertaking described in section 224(1) if a local authority is responsible for acquiring the land for the undertaking

                  Minister means the Minister for Land Information
