Public Works Act 1981

Artificial lakes and secondary use of public works land - Secondary use

193: Revenue and expenditure under this Part

You could also call this:

“Money coming in and going out for special permissions on public projects”

When people get licences, permits, or special rights for public works, they sometimes have to pay money. This law explains what happens to that money and how it’s spent.

If the government is in charge of the public work, any money that comes in goes into the same account that was used to pay for the work. If a local council is in charge, the money goes into their general fund.

Sometimes, the government or local council needs to spend money on these licences, permits, or special rights. They might also need to give refunds or pay compensation. If it’s a government project, Parliament decides how much money to use for this. If it’s a local council project, they use money from their general fund.

Local councils can also decide to lower or cancel the fees for these licences, permits, or special rights. They do this by having a meeting and making a decision together.
