Public Works Act 1981

Gazetting, revocation, amendment, and registration of documents

58: Proclamation or declaration not registrable to be lodged with Chief Surveyor

You could also call this:

“Send unregistered land documents to Chief Surveyor for record-keeping”

If the government takes, buys, or sets aside some land that isn’t covered by the Land Transfer Act 2017, and can’t be registered under the Deeds Registration Act 1908, the Minister must do something special. They need to send a copy of the official document (called a Proclamation or declaration) to the Chief Surveyor’s office. The Chief Surveyor then has to mark this land on the right maps and records for that area. This is done to make sure the land isn’t accidentally used for something else that doesn’t match what the official document says.
