This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Parliament Bill

Parliamentary security - Reporting requirements

190B: Chief executive must report annually on exercise of specified powers

You could also call this:

"The boss must write a report each year on how special security powers are used."

Illustration for Parliament Bill

The chief executive has to write a report every year about how some special powers are used. You will see this report as part of the Parliamentary Service's annual report. It must include how many times these powers were used. The report also needs to have information about complaints people made about these powers. This includes how many complaints were made and what they were about. You will also see what happened with each complaint. Some words in this section have special meanings. An "internal complaints process" is a way for people to complain about parliamentary security officers using their powers. A "specified power" is a special power that parliamentary security officers can use, like stopping someone from entering a building or taking something from them.
