The Speaker decides what travel and accommodation expenses to pay for when you are part of official inter-parliamentary relations and political exchange programmes. You might be a member of Parliament, a spouse or partner, or an employee of the Parliamentary Service. The Speaker must make sure their decisions help you travel for these programmes, no matter what you need. The Speaker also decides what expenses to pay for when you are doing approved professional development, which is learning and development that the Speaker has agreed is related to your job and suitable for the programme. You can find out more about how the Speaker's decisions are published by looking at Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.
