Part 4Salaries, allowances, expenses, and services for members and others

57Outline of this Part

  1. This Part is about salaries, allowances, expenses, and services for members and others.

  2. Subpart 1 sets out the purposes and interpretation of this Part and Schedule 3.

  3. Subpart 2 identifies the principles that apply to determining and using expenses and services provided for in this Part.

  4. Subpart 3 requires the Remuneration Authority to determine,—

  5. for members, the salaries and allowances to be paid out of public money:
    1. for family members of members, Ministers, and eligible candidates, travel expenses to be paid out of public money:
      1. for Ministers, accommodation expenses to be paid out of public money:
        1. for former Prime Ministers, travel expenses and the rate of an annuity to be paid out of public money.
          1. Subpart 4 requires the Speaker to determine,—

          2. for members and eligible candidates, travel expenses and accommodation expenses to be paid out of public money:
            1. for members, parties, and eligible candidates, administrative and support services to be provided and the proper use of the funding for those services:
              1. for members and eligible candidates, communications services to be provided:
                1. in respect of the official inter-parliamentary relations and political exchange programmes, travel expenses and accommodation expenses to be paid out of public money for participating members and employees of the Parliamentary Service and for accompanying spouses or partners.
                  1. Subpart 5 requires the Minister Responsible for Ministerial Services to determine travel expenses for Ministers to be paid out of public money.
