If the Speaker's job is empty or they are away, you need to know what happens. The Deputy Speaker can do the Speaker's job under this bill and the Public Finance Act 1989. They can perform the Speaker's tasks and use their powers. The Deputy Speaker's tasks and powers include things related to money given to Parliament offices or agencies. This means they can make decisions about money for these groups. They can do these tasks and use these powers when the Speaker is away or their job is empty. The Deputy Speaker can do tasks and use powers for groups like Parliament offices or agencies that get money from the government. This is part of their job when they are acting as Speaker. They have to follow the rules in this bill and the Public Finance Act 1989.
