The Parliamentary Service helps the House of Representatives and its members. You can think of it like a support team that makes sure everything runs smoothly. They do things like pay salaries and allowances to members. The Parliamentary Service also looks after expenses and services, as outlined in Part 4, except for travel and accommodation expenses for official trips, which are covered in section 87. They keep the parliamentary precincts safe and secure. They provide library and information services to certain people, including members and officers of Parliament. The Parliamentary Service educates the public about Parliament and helps people engage with it. They provide services to members, the Clerk, and other officers and employees. In this context, an officer of Parliament refers to specific roles like the Ombudsman or the Controller and Auditor-General, as mentioned in section 124.
