When you hear the term "dependent child" in relation to someone, it means a person who is part of their family. You need to consider a few things to understand who is a dependent child. This person must be under 18 years old, or 18 and older and enrolled at a school as defined in the Education and Training Act 2020. This person is being looked after by you as a family member and you give them ongoing care. They must not be living with someone else in a marriage or similar relationship.
