Local Government Act 1974

Roads (other than regional roads), service lanes, and access ways - Formation, alteration, stopping, and closing of roads

327A: Building-line restrictions

You could also call this:

"Councils can cancel rules about where you can build on your land."

Illustration for Local Government Act 1974

If a council has imposed a building-line restriction, they can later decide to cancel it. When the council cancels a building-line restriction, they must send a notice to the Registrar-General of Land or Registrar of Deeds. The Registrar-General of Land or Registrar of Deeds will then update their records to show that the restriction has been cancelled.
