If you commit an offence against the Local Government Act 1974 or any rules or bylaws made under it, there is a time limit for filing a charging document. This time limit is 12 months after the date the offence was committed. The rules in section 25 of the Criminal Procedure Act 2011 do not apply in this case, and the 12-month time limit still stands.
