Local Government Act 1974

Roads (other than regional roads), service lanes, and access ways - Limited access roads

346A: Declaration and revocation of limited access roads

You could also call this:

"Councils can restrict or open access to certain roads in your area."

Illustration for Local Government Act 1974

The council can declare a road or part of a road in your area to be a limited access road. You can think of a limited access road as a road with restricted entry and exit points. The council has the power to make this decision.

The council can also revoke the status of a limited access road, which means they can change their decision and make the road accessible again. This decision applies to any road or part of a road in your area that was previously declared a limited access road. The council makes these decisions to manage the roads in your community.
