You can look at a law called section 393, but it is no longer valid. It was part of the Local Government Act 1974 and was about checking factories and other places to protect water and waterworks. It was stopped from being a law on 1 July 2003 by section 266 of the Local Government Act 2002.

You might want to know that the Local Government Act 2002 changed many laws, including this one. The change happened automatically when the new law came into effect. This means you cannot use section 393 to check factories and other places anymore.
