Land drainage and rivers clearance - Land drainage areas

505C: Relevant area for polls and petitions

You could also call this:

"What area is used for polls and petitions in a district"

Illustration for Local Government Act 1974

When you read sections 504 to 505B, the term "relevant area" has different meanings. If a declaration is made under section 504(1)(a), the relevant area is the whole district. If a declaration is made under section 504(1)(b), the relevant area is the part of the district that would become a drainage area.

If a declaration is made under section 504(1)(c), the relevant area is the drainage areas that would become a new drainage area. If a declaration is made under section 504(1)(d), the relevant area includes two parts: any part of a drainage area that would be excluded, and any part of the district that would be included in the drainage area due to boundary changes. You can find more information about these declarations in the related sections.
