"Rules for Private Bridges and Ferries, Including Tolls and Fares"

Illustration for Local Government Act 1974

You can have rules made about privately constructed bridges and ferries. These rules can be about managing and maintaining the bridges and ferries. They can also be about the money you need to pay to use them. You might need to pay a toll to cross a bridge or a fare to use a ferry. The rules can say how much you need to pay and who does not have to pay. The rules can also say how the money is collected and how to stop people from not paying. Regulations made for this purpose are secondary legislation, see Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019 for publication requirements.
