Illustration for Crown Minerals Act 1991

If you have a permit, you must have a permit operator. You can think of a permit operator as someone who helps you with your permit. This person must be someone who is involved with your permit.

The permit operator is in charge of the day-to-day activities related to your permit. They do this on your behalf, which means they act for you. This is for the purposes of the permit, the Crown Minerals Act 1991, and the regulations.

The permit operator must be someone who is a permit participant, which means they have a role in your permit. They are responsible for managing activities under the permit. You can find more information about changes to this rule in section 22 of the Crown Minerals Amendment Act 2013.
