When the Registrar-General of Land gets a notice that a permit has been revoked, surrendered, or has expired, they will sign and seal the notice with the time and date they got it. They will also note the details on their record copy of the permit and attach the notice to it. This only applies to permits that were lodged before 21 August 2003.

The Registrar of the Māori Land Court must also update the court's records with details of a notice of revocation of a permit lodged under section 39(8)(b), a surrender of a permit lodged under section 40(9)(b), or a notice of expiry of a permit given under section 88(2) or (3).

You can find more information about permits and how they are managed by looking at the relevant sections of the Crown Minerals Act.
