When you read sections 101B and 101C, some words have special meanings. Exclusive economic zone means the same as in the Territorial Sea, Contiguous Zone, and Exclusive Economic Zone Act 1977. Foreign ship means the same as in the Maritime Transport Act 1994.

You need to know what some other words mean too. Master means the same as in the Maritime Transport Act 1994. Offshore area means any area that is within the territorial sea, or within the exclusive economic zone, or on or above the continental shelf.

Some activities are allowed in certain areas. Permitted prospecting, exploration, or mining activity means an activity that is authorised under a permit or an existing privilege. A specified non-interference zone is a zone specified by the chief executive in accordance with section 101B(6) to (8).

You should also know what a structure is. A structure means any fixed, moveable, or floating structure or installation, and includes a petroleum pipeline, petroleum pumping station, petroleum tank station, or petroleum valve station.
