You can commit an offence if you intentionally put false markings on a firearm when making it or importing it. This includes putting false markings on a complete firearm or one that is not yet assembled. You can also commit an offence by putting false markings on an imported firearm. If you commit this offence, you can be sent to prison for up to 10 years when convicted. The law about this offence was changed by the Arms Legislation Act 2020. 55FOffences relating to falsifying firearm markings

  1. A person commits an offence if the person intentionally—

  2. marks a complete firearm, or a complete but unassembled firearm, with any false identifying markings at the time of manufacture; or
    1. marks an imported firearm with any false identifying markings.
      1. A person who commits an offence against subsection (1) is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 10 years.
