When the Minister chooses people for the advisory group, you need to know they must pick a balance of people from the firearm-owning and non-firearm-owning community. The Minister must consider people with knowledge in areas like firearms laws, public health and safety, and firearms research. You will see the Minister's choices for the advisory group in the Gazette. The Minister can appoint a member for up to 3 years and they can be reappointed. You can find out who is appointed and for how long in the Gazette. Members of the advisory group can get paid and have their expenses covered. The fees framework decides how much members get paid and what expenses they can claim. The Government sets the fees framework for groups like the advisory group. The Minister must follow the fees framework when deciding what to pay members.
