If you have a dealer's licence to make firearms, you must follow a special condition. You need to get approval from the Commissioner before making certain items like pistols or restricted weapons. The Commissioner must agree in writing before you can start making these items. You have to apply to the Commissioner and tell them how many items you want to make. The Commissioner will only approve your application if they think there are good reasons for making these items in New Zealand. For some items, like air pistol carbine conversion kits, the Commissioner must also be satisfied that they are for the personal use of a club member. The Commissioner has to be careful when approving the making of these items, as per the Arms Legislation Act 2020. You must get approval before making any of these items. The Commissioner's approval is necessary for you to start making these items.
