Illustration for Water Services Act 2021

In the Water Services Act 2021, a mixed-use rural water scheme has a specific meaning. You will know it is a mixed-use rural water scheme if it meets certain criteria set out in a drinking water acceptable solution issued under section 50. If there are no criteria, it is a mixed-use rural water scheme if it supplies water to properties and most of the water is used for farming or gardening. You can also identify a mixed-use rural water scheme if it supplies water and at least half of the water is for farming or gardening. At the same time, no more than half of the water can be for things like drinking water at home. This helps you understand what a mixed-use rural water scheme is under the Act.
