Part 2Provisions relating to supply of drinking water

49Compliance rules

  1. The Water Services Authority may make compliance rules setting out requirements relating to the performance of functions or duties under this Part by—

  2. drinking water suppliers; and
    1. other persons who have functions or duties under this Part (for example, local authorities).
      1. To avoid doubt,—

      2. the power in subsection (1) is not limited by any other provision in this Part; and
        1. a compliance rule may—
          1. require the treatment of drinking water in a particular way; or
            1. prohibit the treatment of drinking water in a particular way.
            2. A person with a function or duty under this Part must comply with all applicable compliance rules made under subsection (1).

            3. Compliance rules—

            4. may apply in respect of all drinking water supplies or classes of drinking water supply; but
              1. must not apply in respect of an individual water supply or local authority.
                1. Compliance rules made under this section are secondary legislation (see Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019 for publication requirements).
