You can commit an offence if you pretend to be someone you are not. You do this by pretending to be an employee or agent of the Water Services Authority. You can also commit an offence by pretending to be a person who has been authorised under regulations made under section 200 in relation to section 72. If you commit this offence, you can get a fine. The fine can be up to $50,000 for an individual. If you are a drinking water supplier, the fine can be up to $75,000 for an individual or up to $250,000 for a company.

191Offence involving deception by pretending to be employee or agent of Water Services Authority, or authorised person

  1. A person commits an offence if, with intent to deceive, the person pretends to be—

  2. an employee or agent of the Water Services Authority; or
    1. a person who has been authorised under regulations made under section 200 in relation to section 72.
      1. A person who commits an offence against subsection (1) is liable on conviction,—

      2. for an individual, to a fine not exceeding $50,000:
        1. for an individual who is a drinking water supplier, to a fine not exceeding $75,000:
          1. for a body corporate or an unincorporated body that is a drinking water supplier, to a fine not exceeding $250,000.
