Illustration for Water Services Act 2021

You get drinking water from a supplier. They must make sure the water is safe. If the water might be unsafe, the supplier must act quickly to protect public health. They must tell the Water Services Authority that the water is or might be unsafe. You can find more information about the Water Services Authority and their role in keeping drinking water safe. The supplier must find out what is causing the problem and fix it. They must also take steps to make sure the problem does not happen again. The supplier's job is to make sure the water is safe up to the point where it is supplied to you. After that, it is not their responsibility. In some cases, you might need to take action to protect your health, such as boiling the water.
