You need to follow the NEDS when you do work on water services infrastructure. This includes repairing, upgrading, replacing, or maintaining it. You must do this when you work on the whole or part of the infrastructure. You do not have to follow this rule for work that is necessary for the infrastructure to keep working. This also applies if the work does not significantly change the infrastructure's capacity, efficiency, security, or safety. For example, this might be minor or isolated work. You can find more information about the rules you must follow by looking at the Local Government (Water Services) (Repeals and Amendments) Act 2025.
