This Act starts on the earlier of two dates. You need to know it can start on a date chosen by the Governor-General or two years after it gets the Royal assent. The Governor-General can choose different start dates for different parts of the Act. You can find out more about how this works by looking at the Legislation Act 2019. The Governor-General makes an Order in Council to set the start date. This Order in Council is a type of secondary legislation. The start date can be different for different parts of the Act.
