"Rules for councils that supply water and wastewater services to you"

Illustration for Commerce Act 1986

If you get water supply or wastewater services from your local government, they have to follow certain rules. These rules are called information disclosure regulation and revenue threshold regulation, which you can find in subpart 4 and Part 2 of Schedule 7, and Part 3 of Schedule 7. Your local government is considered a decision-making local government water service supplier if they make decisions about how much money to spend on the service or how much to charge you.

You might also have to follow other rules, which are imposed by an Order in Council made under section 57L. These rules can include information disclosure regulation, revenue threshold regulation, quality regulation, performance requirement regulation, and price-quality regulation, which you can find in subpart 4 and Part 2 of Schedule 7, Part 3 of Schedule 7, Part 4 of Schedule 7, Part 5 of Schedule 7, and Part 6 of Schedule 7. This means your local government has to provide you with certain information, follow certain rules about how much money they can make, and make sure the water supply and wastewater services are of good quality.
