Illustration for Commerce Act 1986

The Commission can ask you to give them information or documents if they need it to do their job in relation to section 36A. They can ask you to write down the information and sign it, or they can ask you to show them certain documents. You will have to do this within a certain time and in a certain way that the Commission tells you.

If the Commission asks you for information or documents, you can give them to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission instead, as long as you follow the rules in the Competition and Consumer Act 2010. This way, you will be doing what the Commission asked you to do.

The Commission can only ask you for this information if you live in Australia or if you do business in Australia.
