When the Commission starts working on an input methodology, it must tell everyone by publishing a notice. This notice outlines how the Commission will do its work and how long it will take. The Commission will then create a draft methodology and share it with you, so you can give your thoughts on it. You will have a reasonable amount of time to share your views, and the Commission might even hold a conference to discuss the methodology.

As the Commission works on the methodology, it will consider your views and any others it receives within the set time frames. The Commission can also talk to interested people and hold conferences to get more information. If the Commission has already done some work on an input methodology before this law came into effect, it can still use that work.

Before the Commission decides to use earlier work, it must talk to the people who are interested in the methodology. You can find more information about the law that added this section by looking at the Commerce Amendment Act 2008.
