Illustration for Commerce Act 1986

The Governor-General can make regulations for the Commerce Act 1986. You need to follow these regulations when you make applications or notices to the Commission. The regulations can prescribe things like the procedure to follow, the forms to use, and the fees to pay.

The Governor-General can also make regulations about refunding fees. For example, the Commission can refund part of a fee if you apply for an authorisation or clearance under Part 5. The Commission must also refund fees if they are more than the cost of determining an application or notice under section 58, 65A, 66(1), or 67(1).

The regulations can also say who does not have to pay fees for certain applications or notices. The Governor-General can make regulations for other matters that are necessary for the Commerce Act 1986 to work properly. Regulations made under this section are secondary legislation, which means they have to be published according to the Legislation Act 2019.
