53ZG: Power to exempt disclosure of commercially sensitive information

You could also call this:

"The law lets the Commission keep some business secrets private if they're really sensitive."

Illustration for Commerce Act 1986

The Commission can stop some information from being made public if it is commercially sensitive. You can apply to the Commission for this to happen. The Commission can choose to grant this exemption with any conditions they think are suitable.

The Commission can change or cancel any exemptions they have granted. They must keep a list of all current exemptions and make it available for you to see for free during their office hours.

An exemption is a type of secondary legislation, which has its own publication requirements, as explained in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.
