Illustration for Commerce Act 1986

The Commission can review industry service quality codes at any time. You might wonder what this means - the Commission is like a group of people who help make sure things are fair and working well. When they review a code, they can ask certain people for information to help with the review, like the Water Services Authority—Taumata Arowai or suppliers who follow the code.

After the review, the Commission must tell the Water Services Authority—Taumata Arowai, the Minister, and others about their recommendations to improve the code or create a new one. They also have to say if their previous recommendations have been implemented. The Commission will give their opinion on whether the code is working as it should or if a new code would be better.

You can find more information about this by looking at the legislation website or the Local Government (Water Services) (Repeals and Amendments) Act 2025.
