Animal Welfare Act 1999

8: Act to bind the Crown

You could also call this:

"The government must follow the same animal welfare rules as everyone else."

This Act applies to the Crown. You need to know that the Crown is a term used to describe the government. The Act has rules that the Crown must follow, just like everyone else. The Crown owns some animals, like those covered by the Wild Animal Control Act 1977 or the Wildlife Act 1953. If the Crown owns or manages wild animals because of these laws, it does not mean the Crown is responsible under this Act for those animals.
