"The court can order you to follow animal welfare rules if you break them."

The District Court can make an enforcement order against you if you have broken the rules of the Animal Welfare Act 1999 or any regulations made under this Act. This can also happen if you have not followed a code of ethical conduct or conditions set by an animal ethics committee for a project. The District Court must be satisfied that you have acted in contravention of these rules or are likely to do so, and the application for the order must be made under section 143.
