Animal Welfare Act 1999

Animal exports

47: Multiple consignment animal welfare export certificates

You could also call this:

"Exporting animals multiple times with one special certificate"

You can apply for a special certificate to export animals many times without getting a new certificate each time. The Director-General can give you this certificate, which is called a multiple consignment animal welfare export certificate. This allows you to export animals over a period of time.

When you apply for this certificate, the Director-General must think about how often you plan to export animals. They can also add extra conditions to your certificate, in addition to the conditions that are already required under section 45. These conditions are to ensure the welfare of the animals being exported.

The same rules that apply to conditions under section 45 also apply to conditions for a multiple consignment animal welfare export certificate. The Director-General must consider the matters specified in section 43 when deciding whether to give you a certificate. You must meet these conditions to export animals under this certificate.

  3. Subsections (2) to (4) of section 45 apply not only in relation to conditions imposed under section 45 but also in relation to conditions imposed under subsection (2) of this section.
