Animal Welfare Act 1999

Use of animals in research, testing, and teaching - Reviews of code holders and animal ethics committees

114: Review

You could also call this:

"Checking if people are following the animal welfare rules"

When you conduct an independent review, you must check how well the code holder and the animal ethics committee are following the rules. You do this by seeing if they are implementing the policies, procedures, and requirements set out in the Animal Welfare Act and in any regulations made under this Act and in the code of ethical conduct. You also check if they are complying with the Animal Welfare Act and any regulations made under this Act and the code of ethical conduct.

You are looking at two main things: if they are doing what the rules say they should do, and if they are actually following the rules. This helps you understand how well they are doing their job and if they need to make any changes. The review is an important part of making sure everyone is treated fairly and kindly.
