Animal Welfare Act 1999

Provisions relating to administration - Enforcement orders

156: Rules of court

You could also call this:

"Rules for how the court handles animal welfare cases"

The Governor-General can make rules about how the District Court works when it comes to enforcement orders under the Animal Welfare Act 1999. You can find more information about the District Court's powers in the District Court Act 2016. The Governor-General's rules will help the court follow the Act's provisions about enforcement orders.

The Governor-General's rules are called secondary legislation, which you can learn more about in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019. The rules the Governor-General makes are also covered by section 228 of the District Court Act 2016, which says court rules are secondary legislation. These rules help the court make decisions about enforcement orders under the Animal Welfare Act 1999.
