Animal Welfare Act 1999

Codes of welfare

72: Consultation

You could also call this:

"Talking to people about new animal welfare rules"

When a new code of welfare is being made, the National Animal Welfare Advisory Committee talks to people who have ideas about it. You can give your ideas if you respond to a notice published under section 71(3). The Committee looks at what you say about the draft code of welfare.

The Committee can also talk to people in other ways if they want to. This means they can choose how they want to get your thoughts on a new code of welfare. They might want to hear from you before they give advice to the Minister about a new code.
