Advisory committees - National Animal Ethics Advisory Committee

65: Term of office

You could also call this:

"How long the chairperson and members of the National Animal Ethics Advisory Committee can stay in their job"

The chairperson and members of the National Animal Ethics Advisory Committee are appointed by the Minister. You can find out who they are by looking at a notice published in the Gazette. The Minister decides how long they will be in the role, for up to 3 years, and this is stated in the notice of appointment, but they must follow the rules set out in clause 2 of Schedule 1.

The chairperson and members start their role from the date the notice is published in the Gazette, or from a later date stated in the notice. They can be reappointed to the role again after their term finishes.

If the chairperson or a member is still in the role when their term ends, they will keep working until someone new is appointed to take their place, unless they leave the role early according to the rules set out in clause 2 of Schedule 1.
