Animal Welfare Act 1999

Provisions relating to administration - Approved organisations, inspectors, and auxiliary officers

123: Amendment or revocation of declaration

You could also call this:

"The Minister can change or cancel rules for animal welfare organisations if they're not meeting standards."

The Minister can change or cancel a declaration made under section 121 if they think the organisation no longer meets the criteria set out in section 122, or if the organisation has not followed the conditions imposed under section 122(2) or section 122(5). The Minister can do this by putting a notice in the Gazette. You can think of the Gazette like a special newspaper where the government publishes important announcements.

The Minister can also change or cancel any conditions that were imposed under section 122(2) or (5), and they can impose new conditions instead. They can even amend conditions that were already imposed under section 122(2) or (5) or this section. This means the Minister has the power to make changes to how organisations operate under the Animal Welfare Act.
