Animal Welfare Act 1999

Miscellaneous provisions - Exceptions in relation to use of animals to protect human health or safety

180: Power to amend Schedule 3 by Order in Council

You could also call this:

"The Governor-General can update a list called Schedule 3 to add, change or fix information about government agencies."

The Governor-General can change Schedule 3 from time to time by Order in Council. You can think of the Governor-General as a person who makes big decisions for New Zealand. An Order in Council is a way the government makes decisions. The Governor-General can add names to Schedule 3, such as government departments, Crown entities, or bodies established by Parliament. The Governor-General can also make changes to Schedule 3 to fix mistakes or update names of agencies or bodies. If an agency or body is abolished or its name changes, the Governor-General can update Schedule 3 to reflect this. When the Governor-General makes an order under this section, it is considered secondary legislation, which means it has to be published in a certain way, as explained in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.
