Conservation Act 1987

New Zealand Conservation Authority and Conservation Boards - Conservation Boards

6M: Functions of Boards

You could also call this:

"What Conservation Boards do to help protect New Zealand's environment"

The functions of each Conservation Board are to recommend conservation plans to the Conservation Authority. You will advise the Conservation Authority and the Director-General on how to implement these plans in your area. The Board also advises on changes to important areas and other conservation matters in your region.

You will work with the Fish and Game Council on matters that affect your area. The Minister can give the Board extra powers and functions under this Act or other Acts.

Every Board has other functions given to it by this Act or other Acts, and can exercise powers delegated by the Minister under this Act or any other Act, as seen in the Conservation Act.
